Finnish Culture

Finnish people are very nice. Nearly everyone speaks English as the schools teach Finnish, Swedish, and English.

The food is delicious.  Octopus, salmon, and sausages have been some of our highlights. The local markets feature local vegetables at a significant price increase from those imported from Spain. The salmon (huge!) are from Norway.

Many of the locals travel around town on trams whose tracks are inlaid in the cobblestone streets, like street cars.

The Alko stores are taxed quite heavily providing revenue for the state. We learned that the unemployment rate is nearly 15%. Many wines are packaged like adult juice boxes.

Donut is monki (pronounced sort of like monkey) and bag is pussi (pronounced just like the famous Bond girl, Pussy Galore).
